Our Favorite Sustainable Breastfeeding Products
At kozēkozē, everything we do is in the name of reducing the mess and stress that can run parallel to the perinatal journey so that moms-to-be, first-time moms, or veteran moms can access the bliss that we know exists in motherhood.
As moms ourselves, we know all moms want is what’s best for their babies—and that often includes not only mess-free and stress-free non-toxic products, but products that leave less wear and tear on the world in which our babies will live, grow up, and have their own babies.
That’s why, in addition to creating our own, we’re always on the prowl for sustainable perinatal products. Here, we’ll dive into our favorites when it comes to breastfeeding.

Our nipple and lip balm is formulated to soothe and moisturize raw, cracked, and injured nipples and lips. It applies like a gloss, and heals and hydrates like a balm.
With a cooling ceramic applicator, moms can flip off the cap with one hand (because moms do everything with one hand!) and simply glide along the injured areas, leaving no mess of gunk under the fingernails.
Nip Gloss is also lanolin-free and non-toxic, so safe for babies. It includes organic ingredients like sweet almond oil, calendula flower infusion, shea butter, cocoa butter, and jojoba oil.
The balm is housed within a tube made of PLA—a sustainable and versatile alternative to traditional plastic. Its manufacturing process is more environmentally-friendly as it is fermented plant starch from corn. It has unique properties, such as biodegradability, non-toxicity, and low carbon footprint. It uses 65% less energy than producing conventional plastics, generates 68% fewer greenhouse gasses, and contains no toxins.
Mess- and stress-free? Check. Safe for baby? Check. Easy on the environment? Check.
The Haakaa Silicone Breast Pump is a life-saver when it comes to catching those precious drops of liquid gold from the letdown of the breast from which your baby is not currently feeding.
All you have to do is place the suction pump over the breast—no need to plug into an electrical source, charge, or be tethered to a wall, and no loud pumping noises.
The best part? It’s made of a single piece of 100% food grade silicone and is dishwasher safe, so there is no need to wash a million little pump parts by hand. It is also BPA, PVC, and phthalate-free.
This is the ultimate nursing pillow. The firm cushion wraps around entirely, secured with straps. It even includes a backrest as well as pockets for anything from a water bottle to your cell phone.
The Original has been around for awhile—and is the top choice for lactation consultants and hospitals and has been recommended as the safest nursing pillow on the market by NBC News & Consumer Reports—but the Organic version has upleveled this product for us.
The slipcover is made from environmentally conscious 100% organic cotton fabric, which is not only great for the earth, but for baby’s comfort too.
This is a breastfeeding must-have.
Haakaa is at it again for us when it comes to sustainable breastfeeding products with its silicone milk storage bag.
The obvious sustainability feature is that it is reusable.
Similar to the breast pump, they are made of food grade silicone and are fridge and freezer safe. They can be stored lying flat or standing up, complete with a leak proof stopper that doubles as a carrying strap.
Just like disposable milk storage bags, you simply thaw the frozen milk when your baby is ready to feed.
It is also BPA, PVC, and phthalate-free.
Last but not least, every mama needs a solid nursing cover for feeding on-the-go—and this is one of our faves.
It seamlessly transitions from nursing cover to a shawl, scarf, or swimsuit cover no matter the temps due to its breathable and lightweight nature—making it extra comfortable for both mom and baby.
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) Certified 100% organic cotton muslin cover is artisan-made in India by highly skilled tailors earning a fair living wage under Fairtrade standards.
The cotton is dyed with safe inks, and is machine washable.
